Pennsylvania Centre Chamber Orchestra founded by conductor Dr. Douglas Meyer and local professional musicians Daryl and Lois Durran, resulting in the first all-professional chamber orchestra in Central Pennsylvania.
1994
PCO becomes incorporated as a 501(c)(3) corporation and a Board of Directors consisting of local prominent community members is formed.
2013
Retirement of Doug Meyer as Music Director of the Pennsylvania Chamber Orchestra.
2014-2015
A national search for a new Music Director commences, resulting in an astounding 92 applicants for the Music Director position. Three finalists are invited to State College to conduct concerts during the 2014/2015 season, after which all candidates are evaluated by the search committee, musicians, Board, and audience members.
2015
Maestro Yaniv Attar is appointed as the Music Director of the Pennsylvania Chamber Orchestra
2018
Opening of the newly renovated Penn State Recital Hall.
2020-2021
With the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, the PCO develops a Virtual Season of musical offerings for the community, including a curation of online performances, educational initiatives, and virtual social events.
2023
Yaniv Attar is appointed Music Director of the Rockford Symphony Orchestra and steps down as Music Director of the PCO.
2023
Maestro Gerardo Edelstein is appointed as the Music Director of the Pennsylvania Chamber Orchestra.

Passing of Founder and Conductor Laureate Dr. Douglas Meyer.
