Auditions for the 2026–2027 season are open!

The Pennsylvania Chamber Orchestra is pleased to announce the following auditions:

Section Violin (3 positions) and subs

Violin Repertoire Requirements:

1. A movement of a Bach Sonata or Partita for Solo Violin
2. Prokofiev Classical Symphony: Mvt 1 Beginning – H
3. Two additional excerpts from the repertoire packet (follow link below)

Section Viola (3 positions) and subs

Viola Repertoire Requirements:

1. A movement from a Bach Suite
2. Strauss Don Juan: Beginning – D
3. Two additional excerpts from the repertoire packet (follow link below)

Cello Repertoire Requirements:

1. A movement from a Bach Suite
2. Beethoven Symphony No. 5: Mvt 3 Beginning – mm. 78 and mm. 140 – 218

Second bass and section subs

Bass Repertoire Requirements:

1. The exposition of a standard concerto (Bottesini, Vanhal, Dittersdorf, Koussevitzky, etc.) OR a solo piece in Baroque style by Bach, Fryba, or Vanherenthals
2. Beethoven Symphony No. 5: Mvt 3 Beginning – mm. 100 and mm. 140 – 218
3. Two additional excerpts from the repertoire packet (follow link below)

Auditions to be held Friday, September 4th, 2026. Time and room TBD, but will be held in one of the Music Buildings at the Penn State School of Music.

Principal pay - $60 per service
Section pay - $50 per service

All PCO Musicians MUST be legally eligible to work in the USA
