Be inspired to get up and dance as you are transported to Spain, Romania, and beyond! We open our 2024/25 season in Spain with Manuel de Falla’s comedic Three Cornered Hat Suite, followed by American composer Aaron Copland’s Old American Songs featuring baritone soloist Michael Hanley. Hungarian composer Béla Bartók’s Romanian Folk Dances will immerse you in the folk music of Transylvania, and this concert ends with Schubert’s energizing Symphony No. 3. Get ready to tap your feet and cheer with this season opener.

Concert Facts:
Bartók traveled throughout Hungary and thesurrounding areas to record traditional folkmusic, capturing thousands of old songs, toadopt an authentic folk sound in his compositions.
Originally a ballet premiered in 1919, The Three-Cornered Hat incorporated traditional Spanish dance and featured sets and costumes designed by Pablo Picasso.
Schubert was an incredibly prolificcomposer, having composed over 1,500works by the time he died at the age of 31.However, most of his works remainedunknown until many years after his death.

Nittany Deck
The Penn State Recital Hall is located near the northwest corner of the campus, and visitor parking is available at the Nittany Parking Deck for an hourly rate. ALL SURFACE LOTS ON THE UNIVERSITY PARK CAMPUS ARE RESERVED. Please use one of the parking decks designated for visitors.
Patrons with mobility impairments may be dropped off in front of the Music Buildings at Allen Road. Handicap-accessible parking spaces are available in the Nittany deck. State-issued disability parking placards are required for access to the handicap-accessible parking spaces.
For information regarding parking during the day, campus maps, one-day visitor parking passes, and change for parking meters, please visit any of the parking kiosks on campus.
Smoking is not permitted in any of the School of Music facilities.
Food and beverages are not permitted in the audience seating area.
