Concert Facts:
Often overshadowed by Beethoven’s more famous symphonies (like the 5th or 9th), Symphony No. 4 is sometimes called a "hidden gem." It’s known for its lighthearted and elegant character, in contrast to the intense drama of his other symphonies.
Beethoven’s Mass in C is his only complete mass, composed in 1807-1808. Although it's not as famous as some of his later works, it is an incredibly ambitious piece, blending both the traditions of classical choral music and Beethoven’s own groundbreaking style.
The Mass was not performed in its entirety at its premiere in 1808. The performance was part of a marathon concert that included Beethoven's 5th and 6th symphonies, piano concertos, and other works. Due to time constraints, the choir performed only parts of the Mass, leaving the full vision of the work unknown to audiences at the time.
