Pennsylvania Chamber Orchestra appoints Ian Duh Executive Director.

The Pennsylvania Chamber Orchestra Board of Directors is pleased to announce Ian Duh as our organization’s new Executive Director beginning April 11, 2023.  After a lengthy succession process and the vetting of highly talented applicants, Ian was selected to usher in a new era of PCO.

Ian comes to PCO with unmatched enthusiasm and passion for sharing classical music with Central PA (especially the younger generations) and a vision for a diverse, multi-centric practice of classical music. As an undergraduate at Penn State, he earned dual degrees in piano performance and general science. He also led student organizations including the Liszt Society, and two contemporary a cappella groups, and conducted musical theatre productions. He earned two Masters' degrees in Music, one in violin from Penn State and the other in piano from the University of Maryland. Since then, he has performed as a recitalist, collaborative pianist, chamber musician, and orchestral musician—besides playing in the PCO violin section since 2019, he has also appeared with the Williamsport and Altoona Symphonies and the Music at Penn’s Woods Festival Orchestra. Ian is a passionate and service-minded teacher and has served as the President of the Central PA Music Teachers Association since January 2022. He resides in State College, PA, and New York City with his wife.

Upon accepting the position Ian stated “I am excited to take on a leadership role with the orchestra. Growing up in State College, the orchestra has been an integral part of my life including when I was a young soloist in 2009. I can’t wait to give back and help the organization.”

Ian succeeds Anna Skrupky, who is leaving the area after serving in the PCO Executive Director role since 2018. Known for her untiring energy, and efficient organization with many moving parts, Anna is a true pillar of the orchestra. We are grateful for her commitment, care, and love of the community.

The Pennsylvania Chamber Orchestra, founded in 1991 as the Pennsylvania Centre Chamber Orchestra Society, is a 501 (C)(3) corporation dedicated to provide the Central Pennsylvania region with an artistically superb orchestra and orchestra concerts, as well as to develop an environment where the awareness and appreciation for orchestral music will flourish.
