Spencer Lawrence Boyd, Tenor

Lyric tenor Spencer Lawrence Boyd has sung leading opera roles to great reception across the United States including Nemorino (L’elisir d’amore), Don José (Carmen and La tragédie de Carmen), Tamino (Die Zauberflöte), Count Almaviva (The Barber of Seville), Gabriel von Eisenstein (Die Fledermaus), and Vincent (Gounod’s Mireille) among others. He has also been featured in supporting roles, musical theater roles, and in a wide range of oratorio and symphonic works, recitals, and scenes programs. Other recent orchestral appearances include Beethoven’s Symphony no. 9 with The Louisville Orchestra and Haydn’s The Creation with the Winona State University Orchestra (Winona, MN).

 Boyd recently finished performance residencies with Opera Colorado (’21-’22) and Teatro Nuovo (Summer ’22) and he is also a two-time fellow of the Aspen Music Festival and School. He holds voice performance degrees from Chapman University (BM), Kent State University (MM), and is in the final stages of finishing a Doctor of Music degree at Indiana University where he has studied with internationally acclaimed soprano Carol Vaness.
